ウチワ・サボテンについて
開花は5月頃。咲いている間は約1日。実（ツーナ）と呼ばれ何世紀もの間食されている。果物の味はプラムとスイカを合わせたような味らしい。果物が熟すのが7月から8月頃。この時期は野鳥を始め昆虫類や哺乳動物も好んで果実を食べる 。
Engelmann's Prickly Pear

People have eaten the fruits (called tunas) of prickly pear for centuries (which tastes like a combination between a plum and a watermelon). The fruit ripens in large numbers in July or August and is also eaten by a wide variety of birds, insects and mammals.
