Naturalists have been feeding hummingbirds at Lake Hope State Park since 1995.
A combination of commercial feeders and natural tube flowers are used.

Hand-feeding schedule summer of 2008
Program begins June 18th and ends Labor Day weekend
Visitors can learn about ruby-throated hummingbirds and attempt to hand-feed them!

Every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
1:00pm-3:00pm each day. Stop by anytime during that period to give it a shot

Hummingbirds DO NOT
migrate on the backs of geese! C’mon!

Hummingbirds will not bite people and
they DO NOT STING!
The RUBY-THROATED is the only
Hummingbird species to nest in Ohio

The RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD
occasionally passes through Ohio
during migration

Their heart beats about 1220 times
per minute when flying

Wings beat 60-80 times/second
during normal flight
