Ilocos part 4: Vigan

2008.04.18
Calle Crisologo

"Calesa, anyone?"

Just some of the native products on sale.

Native products set against old, crumbling walls. What better way to entice a customer?

The famous poetess. Behind is the (more) famous restaurant.

So which one is it? 1848, or...

1849???

Famous restaurant

And it's history (also includes Vigan's).

The Vigan longganisa! 100 Php (around 2.50 US dollars) per dozen.

Even a fastfood should follow the heritage feel! :-)

And even if you're a modern salon, since you're in Vigan, follow the rules or look out of place.

I find this monument weird.

Uh, and also this one of Rizal's.

Vigan is famous for their jars. So even their trash can is shaped in the form of a jar! Shot this at the Salcedo Plaza, across Burgos Plaza.

I like their tricycles. Plate numbers on top!

Famous Vigan bagnet and longganisa! While shooting pictures, I stumbled upon this restaurant. I talked to the owner a bit and she let me taste their longganisa. Pretty good, so I bought that, together with bagnet.

Shop of shirts, where I finally saw a couple of nice designs. Bought them for me and my sister.

Saw this painting while I was paying for the shirts. Is that Imelda? I wondered. Sure looks like her. Imelda Marcos is still here in Vigan. No wonder, since her husband is an Ilocano. They practically owned the whole of Ilocos, I assume!

Where I bought an abel (woven) blanket for F. Beautiful!

Ma'am Karen checking out the checkered ones. I bought the plain off-white ones. She got I think 5!

Finally! The Crisologo Street at Vigan. I've long dreamed of going to Vigan, and here it is. Shopped a lot, mostly food.
