So for the last three nights, total amount of sleep I got was < 14 hours (or how long I slept the first night). I don’t know what it is. I just can’t fall asleep at night. I was up till 3 AM this morning just lying there. My dream misses me, and I miss them back. I need
Rozerem. Anyone try them? Does it actually work? Will I see Ab Lincoln and the buck toothed beaver playing a game of chess? Frankly if I had a dream like that, I think I should be taking something else.
Anyway, today was the last day of competition here in Stockholm. The morning session actually went pretty well considering how little sleep I got. I swam the 200 meter freestyle first, just for fun, and finished with a time of 1:50.7. Not the fastest of all time, but still a best time for me. Next, I swam the 200 backstroke. And as expected, Randall and the rest of the guys pretty much dogged the swim and I ended up first with a 1:58.7. Not too bad, got the job done. I was just anxious to get back to the hotel and catch up on some sleep.
While I napped, my mom went exploring again. This time, she walked around the eastern island of Djurgården. On the way, she stopped to visit Nobel Park, where winners of the honorary Nobel Award receive their recognition. Next, she stopped at Vassa Museum, which is supposedly the most frequented museum in Stockholm according to the Insight Pocket Guide: Stockholm. Some pictures were taken inside the museum, but they came out so horribly blurry that I decided they weren’t worth posting. If you want to know more about the Vassa Museum. You can follow this link here:
http://www.vasamuseet.se/InEnglish/about.aspx. The pictures that I did post were taken on the bridge from Östermalm to Djurgården. Post-processing done by me☺
Back at the pool, after waiting for more than 2 excruciating hours, I finally swam the final heat of the 200 back. I finished 3rd with a time of 1:53.7 after Randall (1:51.85), and was out touched by a very lanky Russian by the name of Arkady Vyatchanin.
At the awards ceremony, each of the top three finishers had a Swedish girl escort us to the podium. As this particularly tall beautiful brunette escorted Randall to the podium, the meet director turned to Randall and jokingly but proudly commented on the beauty of the hand picked Swedish “escorts.” As if on queue, the girl walking next to Randall turned and asked slyly, “so, uh, how old are you,” to which Randall laughed and replied, “more than 10 years older than you” and turned away to receive his award. Ouch. Haha. But hey, you never know, I guess some people are into that.
Well that’s one meet down, three to go.
It’s been a blast.
Hej då Stockholm… Berlin, Here I come.
Ciao.
