The Forbidden City, officially known as Palace Museum (Gugong), is China’s most magnificent architectural complex and was completed in 1420. It covers an area of 720,000 sq meters and consists of over 800 buildings. Forbidden to commoners, 24 Emperors over 500 years ruled China from its halls.
