Glass

2007.09.13
The dining table at our villa/hotel in Bali, Indonesia. [August 2007]

Another shot... though I like the first one better.

Petrol (in Absolut Vodka bottles!) being sold on the side of the street to the gazillions of motorcyclists in Bali.

Zooming around in an auto-rickshaw in Bangkok, Thailand. I like the multiple uses of glass here -- window and mirrors, transparent and reflective. [June 2006]

The window washers at the observation level (the highest floor) of Taipei 101 -- currently the world's tallest building. Crazy! [April 2007]

To get a sense of the height...

OK, I can't take credit for this photo. My boyfriend took this photo from inside the museum atop Mount Holyoke (the actual mountain, not the college) in South Hadley, Massachusetts. [May 2007]

A fresh seafood buffet. VERY fresh! :) This was taken at the Sai Kung Seafood Market in Sai Kung, Hong Kong. [February 2006]

A compelling piece of modern Chinese art. The image is painted on several parallel layers of glass. [November 2005]

You can see the dimension and the depth in this shot. This piece was displayed at one of the art galleries in the 798 Art District in Beijing.

Alright, I'm back in the game after a noticeable absence.

This entry is obviously centered around glass. The visual effect of the first photo kinda got me thinking. The effect is nothing new or profound, of course. Just got me thinking about the forms, functions, and usage of glass in our world.

And, well, it's fun to show bits of my travels in this thematic way.
