a couple or three lives ago
used to take a lot of train
in a place &time where space &time abundantly found

staring out of the window
looking down at the book
spacing out whimsically
listening in to adjacent conversations

savour those rides
still do

a very different time
a time when

chatting w/ a stranger met no hesitation
chat up target left w/o slight sore unease
me pictured lying there w/ arms open
even w/ my white interview shirt & tie on

and now
or a few days ago

looking at the track
flashback of those times
redeem many arrested spirits

picturing taking a picture
with a closer, intimate proximity
of those rails that led me here
may beam me back somewhere there

contemplated
calculated

w/ hardly any foreseeable hazard
swallowed the idea
evapourated

this is a different time
this is now


starting a conversation with a stranger met no hesitation
