We've just spent a weekend at a Horse Boy camp. These are for children with autism and their families. We stayed in a yurt and the kids had a chance to spend quite a bit of time riding.

Archie loves riding, but it's often difficult to access (we usually head to a friend's house, or he goes with school) because his behaviour around horses is unpredictable and his lack of language means he can't be instructed in a conventional way. Horse Boy camp was relaxed and easy going.

The weather was wonderful, the sun didn't stop shining. Archie's brothers were also able to take part in wild food walks (and Joseph who usually fusses if you dish up a potato was happily tucking into stinging nettles and gorse flowers) and nature art. Staying on a campsite where Archie wasn't the only severely autistic child also made a very relaxing change. It was really quite special.

I have loads of photos and will have to upload slowly over several days.
