The Dalai Lama visted Bendigo last June (2007) to bless the foundations of the Great Stupa being built at the Atisha Monastery. It was a wonderful occasion and included participation from local indigenous people and the Chinese community (hence the dragons). A few shots from the day. Conditions were challenging: cold, dull, a little rainy, very windy, large crowd. I was situated a long way from the stage. [Nikon D70 with Tamron telephoto.]

kangshung Interesting set Harry, and quite reasonable results under the conditions - I like #1, 2 and 3 most, but what is this Tamron telephoto lens?

Maxine Wow! What a great set. I love the colours. I saw him last year too. I have seen him on every trip he has made to Sydney since the early 80s. I sound like I'm bragging! :))) Seriously, this is a beautiful bunch of photos.

rolpa Beautiful colour and exposure throughout and nice sense of the occasion. Love the first two - great scene of HHDL with a slightly anxious looking retinue, and the beautiful Padmasambhava, the precious guru.

vollenda I agree with rolpa. The set is very colorful and gives a great sense of being there. It must have been a fanastic experience! Wonderful set!
