An obsessive amateur photographer for thirty odd years, mainly interested in landscape and nature photography but dabbling in some urban photography more recently. Favourite places: Tasmania, the Snowy Mountains and Central Australia; the Himalayas; the American High Plains and Rocky Mountains. Current Camera: Sony A700 — a beautiful thing! Lenses: Carl Zeiss 16-80 & Tamron 70-300. Previous cameras: Nikon D70 and Olympus OM2. (The OM died and the D70 was appropriated by my son.) PS. Just acquired a Sigma 10-20mm.

>>"Can you believe I took #13 29 years ago, in 1979?"
And that experience and skill is very evident today!

I still can't believe this is what you see out of your bedroom window! A majestic mountain, nicely framed.
Heh. I'm just not showing the neighboring houses -- we do live in the 'burbs, and the houses are unimaginative and too close together. But Anchorage is closed in by mountains and national forest/mountain ranges, so we all squish together, as i think I've written. People just land here and head off for their picturesque destinations. I do love it here, though, as you wrote, particularly when I can just look up and see beauty.

I think I remember the original — or something like it. But this is very effective as well — beautifully done!
You are right. I impressed that you remember one of my old post. I took a lot of shot of this bird one day and as I am too busy these days I just dig into my old pictures to find something to post :)

I like the first two best Rich. #1 is a very pleasing composition with crisp colours and definition, and a nice ambience. #2 is an interesting "abstract".
Thanks Harry - I like the last couple more. How come you didn't comment on my previous post ;)?

sunsets are endlessly beautiful — so many variations of light and colour ! great post meiling
Many thanks, Harry, for your always encouraging comments. I'm sorry I have been (and still am) away from PB for a long time, and have not been able to visit your blogs. At the moment I am working on a project which is taking too much time but it should be over soon (I hope)!
We are lucky to have a 360-degree unobstructed view atop a hill, so it is a most rewarding end-of-day event to watch in awe at Nature's wonderful palette. Best regards.

Hope I don't miss your follow-up post. We lost connectivity, and I'm using dial-up until the cable guy deigns to visit, perhaps Friday. I can vacuum and hike by the time a series of images downloads, if indeed the browser doesn't time out.
Beautiful photos, Harry. And nice comment. Thank you.

What a splendid event it all was — 400,000 people and no violence, no drunkenness, no fights — and great to see so many young people having such a good time. (He looks like he's waving just at you! Perhaps he was!)
And they're still at it! I went down to Manly to do my supermarket shopping this afternoon and they were all down there, marching down the Corso with their national flags and singing hymns with guitars and drums. I took a couple of videos with my mobile phone (obviously I can't post them on photoblog though!)
