I was drving along and came upon this horse and driver going around an oval course in a snowy forest setting. The horse was amazing. It kept a fast pace each lap for as long as I watched. I think it was enjoying the moist, foggy air after a long time in a winter-bound barn.

I was curious about Trotters. This from Wikipedia:

"Standardbreds are a breed of horse best known for their ability to race in harness at a trot or pace instead of under saddle at a gallop. Developed in North America, the breed is now recognized worldwide for its harness racing ability. They are solid, well-built horses with good dispositions..."

Very cool! This scene reminds me of my favorite poem, "Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening" Robert Frost. But I guess it was you that was stopped, not this horse and buggy! darfoster · 2011-02-01: 23:01
