To tell the truth, it's something that they eat mostly in the island of Reunion (near Madagascar). We do have it in Martinique but it's rare, and I never tried to eat it. They cook it with salt, I doubt they can have it raw. It might be the same family with bread fruit that I love....

Nice shots of an original fruit ! Original by its shape, graphic aspect and... name ! ;-)) Thanks Jendayee for this great set. NatinKool : en français c'est le fruit du jacquier appelé jacque, ou jaque, ou petit jaque, ou Ti'jac !

I fell in love with that first photo. You have captured the nuances of the fruit—every little protrusion. the light illuminates the fruit exquisitely.

Jackfruit! Yum!....it's one of my mom favorite...though I'm not really a big fan of it :p One of the weird one I've ever seen was the Jackfruit tree that has jackfruits growing at the trunk of the tree near the root.
