Mission at San Juan Capistrano

2008.01.12
It looks hazy because there was wood burning in a pit or something like that so it was making the air a little bit smoky.

I sort of got some sunbeams in this one.

The "new" church. It was SO cold inside.

Swallow nests. They look kind of fake to me for some reason.

Neat old sign.

I stayed and took a lot of pictures in this little alcove with the candles because it was nice and warm in here.

I liked the arches. I copied my friend, she took a picture of this too.

The old church that crumbled during an earthquake I guess a long time ago.

Rock where they ground stuff.

There were a lot of bells.

Found some mushrooms growing.

I found this in the wall of the old church. It was just so totally out of place I took a picture of it.

I know the name of this plant but I can't spell it.

The courtyard you see when you first walk in.

Just messing around with the camera and reflection in the pond.

Where we had lunch.

Yum! I like cucumber sandwiches the best. I just wish they wouldn't skimp on the cucumber.

Today my fellow project 365er and I went to San Juan Capistrano. I think a great thing about this project 365 thing is that it's making me want to take more short day trips so I can explore and find more things to take pictures of.

San Juan Capistrano is really small so there really wasn't much to see except for the mission. We may go back when the swallows return in April or something like that.

We also went to another frozen yogurt place but I didn't think to take a picture of the sign until I got home. Well, there's supposed to be one opening near my work so I guess I'll have to document their grand opening because you can be sure I'll be there.

TerralDee One of my favorite places in California. Full of memories because we would stop there when we would drive from La Cresenta to San Diego. I found it to be very peaceful.
