not the picture i wanted for today

2008.03.07
I took a picture of the Hollywood United Methodist Church on Highland and Franklin as I was waiting to turn into the parking garage for the Hollywood and Highland Center. They have a lot of rooms and stuff (there are more church buildings to the left) so a lot of people hold auditions there.

It's a good thing that I decided to take some pictures while waiting in traffic or else I would not have had a picture at all to post for today!

My friend Antoine had invited me to go with him to the first annual Filipino-American Visionary Awards tonight at the Kodak Theater. He and his two friends (Lito and Randy) formed a singing group called the Three Filipino Tenors. They were invited as VIP guests and got to walk the red carpet and work their princess waves. : )

I wanted to take a picture of all of us in our pretty dresses and suits but since the Kodak Theater doesn't allow cameras or even camera phones I had to leave my camera in the car. I was thinking about sneaking it in but it just wasn't worth the trouble. Afterwards we stayed at the Hollywood and Highland Center to eat because we were all starving. I was going to get my camera after we ordered our food but we were having so much fun just talking and laughing I forgot all about it. I tried to take some photos with my camera phone but it was too dark.

Although I didn't understand half the stuff that was going on during the show (a lot of recipients and the hosts often spoke in Tagalog) it was a really interesting glance into another culture.
