japanese sweets

2008.04.19
forgot the name of this mochi but I like it because it is really soft. I also love the packaging, makes me feel like each one is a little gift.

sakura mochi - red bean paste scented with cherry blossoms, surrounded with rice, wrapped with a pickled cherry leaf and decorated with a pickled cherry blossom. It smelled really wonderful and tasted good too. : )

Well, I think my callback went well today but don't know if I'm what the director is looking for. Now I just have to wait and look for more auditions to go to. : ) I can't wait to get hired for something, it would keep me busy and give me something else to take pictures of!

I was sort of in the area so I decided to stop by King's Hawaiian Bakery and get that pinapple tres leches cake that I tried to get last time. It was really yummy!

I also happened to pass by a japanese supermarket with this really good japanese confectionery inside. I don't know if any native Japanese would agree with me on that but I like it. I bought some mochi (can't remember what kind), sakura mochi and mitarashi dango (if you are curious as to what that is you can go here).

I don't know why but I kind of went overboard on the sweets today. I guess because I don't often go out to Torrance so since I was there I wanted to get a little bit of everything.

TerralDee We eat Japanese all the time but haven't tried many of the desserts. Most of our Japanese resturants have "American" desserts. :(

PaperWings When I was in Japan, I ate a ton of the bean paste goodies! We went to a market that had every flavor in the world! We always had it with green tea to balance out the bitterness of it. The two made a good set.

Beautiful shot...I love the way Japan is all about presentation. I wish things in America were more like that.
