This theater company, Showcase Benefit Productions, puts on shows to raise money for various charities. They don't do it too often, simply because they put in a great deal of their own money and time into these productions (they don't do fundraising or anything like that to produce the shows) so they only put a show on if they can afford it. This year's charity was Lupus International.
I did a show a couple years ago with them so I wanted to go and support what they do. Lew and Marty (that's a woman, btw, she goes by Marty), who produce these shows, are really wonderful people and it was great to see that they were both in the show as well! It seems that there was some fiasco with a couple of the actors so they had to fire one 3 days before opening and threw Lew in as a replacement. Apparently there were also a lot of roles that got switched around last minute but they all did a great job so you couldn't even tell that most of the cast had just learned their parts only a few days ago! I also got to see John, who was the director for the show I was in and who directed this show, and Stu, who did all the lights for my show and this one. It was great seeing everyone again!
