some pictures from Point Fermin Park - San Pedro, CA

2008.05.15
I'm not exactly sure what this building is for but you can't get to it because the cliffs are too dangerous, I guess, so it's fenced off.

Tried to snap a quick picture before they flew off. It was a very long line of these birds, don't exactly know what kind they are.

Some pretty flowers I found growing along the wall.

some more pretty flowers

I think one of the guys on the boat noticed me taking a picture of them : )

the park is on a cliff, in case you haven't guessed that yet : )

I have no idea how he got down there. That is also one of the longest fishing poles I have ever seen. Sorry it's kind of hard to see but the blue pole is kind of blending in with the blue water.

some waves crashing on the rocks

I found some wild parrots! I guess they can be found all over CA and I guess the rest of the country too? I finally was able to get a picture of them. This is the third time I've seen them around Southern California. I don't remember when the first time was that I saw them but the second time was when my friend and I were at the Huntington Library. If you're interested in finding out more about it you can go to this website.

I forget what settings I used for this (i could look it up but eh, don't feel like pulling it up right now) but here is one attempt...

and here is another attempt - I changed the white balance and I think the exposure value for this picture. I like this one because I love purple so of course I like the purple cast to this photo. : )

Today's rehearsal is at the park again so I decided to leave a little earlier and take some pictures. I took a lot today, 230! Most of them of the same thing, though, just trying to experiment with the exposure value and white balance and stuff like that to see what happens.

The air was REALLY dirty today so a lot of my pictures were lost in a smoggy haze. I decided not to include those pictures in hopes that one of the days that I'm at the park again the air will be lovely and clear and I will actually be able to get a picture of Catalina Island.
