My mom has a cactus plant that blooms at least once a year. The flowers are really pretty and unusual but unfortunately last less than a day - they bloom in the morning and wither away by nightfall. Apparently they also smell really good but I wouldn't know - looks like the scent is strongest when the flower first opens (which always seems to happen sometime in the wee hours of the morning when I'm asleep) and doesn't last very long, or so my mom says, and so by the time I'm up around 8 AM the scent is gone.
I've taken pictures of these flowers before and actually were the first things I photographed when I bought my first digital camera a couple years ago. I posted them on Photoblog and as I was looking for it to post a link, I found that I had posted it on May 30, 2006! What a weird coincidence!!! If you want to check out that post, click
here. I think the old pics look a lot better than these. I took the pictures this morning and couldn't spend as much time with them as I would have liked so most of my pictures were pretty bad. Excuses, excuses...
Hopefully I will have more interesting photos tomorrow. I was hoping to see some friends of mine and take pictures at their church summer festival event but they are flying out tomorrow due to a family emergency (hopefully everything is ok) so our get-together was canceled. Now I'm trying to think of where I can go that's not too far, gas prices are killing me right now!!!
