Something wonderful happened this morning. Michael's assistance soccer coach and his family invited both boys on a hike this afternoon. As much as I love having my boys around, it was peaceful for me to have an entire afternoon to work in the yard without interruption. It was a beautiful, sunny day and I spent it weeding, laying down that black paper that blocks weeds and covering a large section of our front garden with it and then soil and then some mulch. I weeded, watered with Miracle Gro, mowed the front yard, swept and cleaned the front porch. I think I'm about done w/the front yard except to keep it watered and weeded. It looks really good, in my opinion. Funny that we're just renting. I seriously doubt our landlords appreciate anything we've ever done to keep this house looking nice. But, we have always treated wherever we live as our very own. In this case, we are renting our home in TX so I think it would be very bad karma to not take care of this home because we are landlords, too. Do unto others, you know?
Anyway, gardening is also very therapeutic for me because I'm doing it to keep Mike's hard work the last 2 summers looking good plus I'm adding to it. Mike, having such a busy work schedule, wasn't able to do a lot of the projects he'd like to have. So, I'm carrying the torch for him, so to speak. I find that I really enjoy it.
Well, late in the afternoon, Kip (the assistant coach) called and invited me to join them for dinner! I was so happy to be invited. The weekends usually stink because we're used to having family dinners so it was really nice to join another family so we didn't notice the empty chair at our own house. Thanks to the Main family!!!
Tonight, we noticed the baby birds are out of the nest but hanging around with a few fuzzy feathers and they seem hesitant to stray too far away. But, they are flying around and getting used to their wings.
Tonight, I'm prepping a box to mail to Mike. We miss you Mike!!!! And, love you soooo much!!!!
