Guess what?
When Mike first left for training, he was told since he had only 4 days between training graduation and departure that they would not allow him to come home. Well, at some point, they decided to recind that rule and so he booked a flight and he is here!!! I haven't posted for a few days because I've been cleaning, straightening, shopping and baking. Mike was so excited to sleep in his own bed after sleeping on a hard, metal bed with the thinnest mattress you ever saw so I washed his pillows and favorite blanket. I made him his 2 favorite pies: key lime (tried a new recipe with awesome results!) and lemon meringue (not so awesome result...it's official...I cannot made lemon meringue pie). I bought some fancy steaks and made homemade potato salad. I also got the house all straightened up so I didn't have to do much cleaning while he was here and I also got all the laundry done. Busy! So, he calls me on Thur and he caught an earlier flight so we cut our lunch short and went to the airport. Of course, once I got there, we found out his flight was delayed so we had to "cool our heels" for over an hour and a half waiting. Oh, well. It was worth the wait! So, here he comes in uniform and the boys set off the alarm running past the "do not enter" area to greet him. As we were walking out to the parking lot, a lady stopped us and said, "thank you for your service! Thanks for keeping me free!" What a nice welcome home!!!
So, Mike is full of news about his training. He showed Michael and Nick some of his "combat" self-defense skills. I'm posting a few pics of that. No one was injured during the filming - haha! We also enjoyed steaks cooked on the grill and spent the evening outside playing cornhole and soccer. So fun!
He's only home for 3.5 days but we're making the best of it and really enjoying each other and having lots of fun!!!! :)
