Paris - part 1

2008.02.22
Boarding Air France.

Business Class welcome with champagne!

Computer monitors and exterior cameras let you watch what's going on outside from take off to landing. And GPS lets you track your progress, altitude (37,000 feet) and outside air temp (-97 F).

Shrinking ice flows near the North Pole.

The new Paris Charles De Gaulle airport logo. Which really needs to be made into tshirts.

Water conservation requires toilets to now have a mini-flush button as well as major-flush button for bigger jobs.

The Eiffel Tower sparkling in the night from my room.

We are staying in the La Defense area of town which directly reflects...

L'arc de Triomphe

Climbing 238 stairs inside...

View from the top.

The Louvre.

I M Pei pyramid

The gorgeous Musee D'Orsay

Art Noveau entrance to the Metro.

Paris Police headquarters. Niiiiiice...

Notre Dame at dusk. Yes, the sky was really this blue.

Just making it inside for evening mass.

Even though I am not religious, it is hard not to be touched by this Medieval interior, the incense, the prayers being in whispered French.

Lighting candles.

They MADE me go to Paris for work!
4 days of eating and drinking and touring hotels.
On someone else's dime....*sigh*
At first, I was more excited about flying Business Class on Air France.
It was nice, but - Paris??
This city is always amazing to me.
Just as mysterious and beautiful as I remember...
