Yes, I like the faint shadow too. It's really hard to photograph the moon. One day I'll get a bigarsed lens and give it another try. If I recall, you have a good compact (non-SLR), so the following might work for you. Please forgive me rambling on for a bit:... It's best to put it into Manual mode, and set aperture & time yourself. On auto, it will try to average the brightness for the whole scene, making the moon too bright. During the eclipse last August I had the aperture on f28 and 1/4 second. Maybe f11, and a shorter shutter speed would've worked better, but it's very hard to focus on the moon in the dark. It's a bright moon tonight, so maybe I'll try again.

Kovac's just posted a moon shot too. Way better than mine, and I'd say he has expensive gear. Doesn't say what settings he used.

Hi there !! It is great to view all your photos that I missed due to my very2 hectic schedule. This one in particular is special because, moon in Australia looks bigger than in my place (Malaysia).
