unexpected off-roading...

2009.06.13
a short ways onto the dirt road brought me above the lake.

further in were a few tree graveyards. one of the few i passed that weren't covered in mist.

the oh-so-surprising dead end 20 miles into the woods.

a quick stop on the way back. this was probably the smoothest 100 yards of the road.

caught up with the guys along the highway before we headed up to mt st helens. the observatory was charging to view the crater - something we've all seen before, but were too cheap to pay for again.

can you pick out the dust-covered, black ms3?

went to go meet the guys up at mt st helens after a short jaunt around mt rainier. i was following the gps, and it led me to a forest service road. curiosity got me and i kept trudging on through the pot-holed, uninhabited dirt road to see if it would pop me out on to the next major highway. after 20 miles of hairy rally driving, i ended up at a dead end.

the back-tracking took a lot less time, though.
