As in a previous post Autumn is my favorite time of year. The air is brisk, cool and clear; and the trees are turning color. I must have been a squirrel in a previous life because I love to clean and get ready. Weird for a guy I'm sure. Today, I went out and cleaned up the yard, stacked my firewood, and closed up the pool as my pool service company is showing up Monday morning to put the winter cover on. Normally this is something I do myself but due to the huge amounts of snow we had last year, several of the springs that are anchored into the concrete pulled so tight under the massive weight that they bent - And this is a pool cover that supposedly can support the weight of an elephant! So, tomorrow they come and I need be ready.
Since it was so cool after the rains this morning I lit my Chiminea for the first time and took in that most delicious of all smells: wood. As the trees in the woods behind the house change, I'll be out there shooting more.
Enjoy this time of year. To me there is nothing else like it.
