I didn't plan for the first image in this series. I had originally planned and setup for the 2nd shot. I made my way to this location with the aid of my flashlight as I hit the short trail before sunrise. I had my camera on the tripod, wide-angle lens attached, ready to fire as the first rays of light came over the mountain to my immediate left.
As soon as the sunlight broke though I was scared sh*(you know what)less as I was totally unprepared for the raucous noise from a flock of wild geese that were hidden in a cove off to my right. Let's just say they woke me up!! I fired off about twelve frames and this was the last, and best frame of the twelve. As I was setup for a calm, peaceful sunrise I had the camera set stopped down and not prepared for this shot. However, it turned out fairly well as I immediately opened up the aperture to it's widest F4 and fired away. As I was at only ISO 100, the fastest shutter speed I was able to achieve was 1/30th of a second explaining the blur of the geese in flight.
