Red Buoy

Getting the last few film shots out of my system. I love it though! Shooting film to me is getting back to the basics of photography. No digital, no beeps, no chimping on the LCD to see if you nailed it. You either got it, or you didn't; that's part of the excitement of film. Don't get me wrong -- I LOVE digital, but shooting film, well, it's like getting out from the garage, that first warm day of spring my old, four speed british (Triumph) roadster and taking it for a spin, with the top down. First of all, it's British, so it is always a welcome surprise when it does start :) With the camera, It's a rush hearing the shutter click, the slap of the mirror, and the film advance motor whir away loudly. You should see people who were standing around just stop and stare for a moment when that happens. Too funny. Then of course many come over and I have to explain what I'm doing, and what I'm shooting with --- It's funny, and somewhat sad, but the younger twenty-somethings that I've talked to have never, ever shot film before, or even seen a film camera.
Shot with: Mamiya 645AFD, Mamiya 55-110 zoom lens, Ektar 100 print film, Tripod, self timer, Mirror Lockup, 1/2 second, F32 exposure. Developed and scanned to a 18megapixel file by NCPS in San Diego, CA, USA. As in all my other film, I import it into LR, where i usually sharpen a bit for screen use.

atszabo Changing of the guards, Jorge! (Isn't it annoying to realize how these twentysomethings are so different from us?)

????? Beautiful shot.

I mentioned to someone how lucky she is to be learning computers in school and she replied "but I'm sure you did too!" They don't realize that in our day a newly invented computer was the size of a football field and not exactly something we learned in school! It's also pathetic to see people who can't even tell time on a clock if it isn't digital!
