This is where the rubber meets the road. My little corner of the world where I spend hours and hours when I'm not out shooting.
Behind me, is another desk with a 24" iMac for business apps. The screens shown here are a 22" Viewsonic and 24" Samsung, both color calibrated. Lightroom, is my primary image management tool which allows me to utilize both screens. Sitting below this desk is a MacPro with 16 Gigs of ram, and four hard drives totaling 4.7 Terabytes of storage powered by 2 x 3Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon processors. Speed Rules here. For entertainment while I work on image processing I have the JBL "Little Creatures" speakers with subwoofer below the desk to listen to my 15 GIG iTunes library.
On the left is my traveling Macbook Pro, 4G Ram, 2.66Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with a 320G HD.
The iPad is the 64G Wifi and 3G version used for presentations while on the road.
Behind the screen on the left is a small mini-rack with two Lacie 2TB HD's for backing up via Time Machine. Not shown are two Lacie Rugged Mini-HD's where I back up my 80,000+ images every couple of days and they are always on my person in my briefcase, or securely wrapped in a couple of towels, stored in my car. If anything happens at home, my images, and important documents are always available. Keyboard and mouse are USB wired. I used to run wireless via Bluetooth but it got to be a pain in the arse as it seemed I always needed to replace batteries when I was jamming along.
This MacPro is used ONLY for image management and processing. There are no Microsoft Apps on this machine as (IMHO) Microsoft sucks; or any other software not directly, or indirectly related to image ingestion, processing, and distribution. If needed I use Openoffice.org which opens, reads, and creates Microsoft documents. On the laptop I have the full suite of Microsoft garbage. The laptop also has the same photo processing suites as the desktop for on the road image uploading and processing. Not shown to right of the right side screen is my Epson 4490 scanner for scanning medium format film and slides.
This is my little corner of the world.
SWEET...I love my command center too!!! Great title and super equipment...love all the specs!!! Well, you have me beat by a lot...21.5" iMac attached Bose with subwoofer and 11" Macbook Air. I think I'm waiting for the 3rd generation iPad because I recently bought the Air.
I love the hand done artwork on the wall :))
