Painted Ad on side of an old barn. Lancaster, PA
Panasonic Lumix LX5, 1/100th, F5.6, ISO 80 I'm a bit ashamed to say I've been shooting so much with this Panny that I haven't touched my dSLR... Interesting turn of events. Being incognito, instead of being considered "a pro" has allowed me some shots that may not have been possible with the dSLR -- as an example shooting inside the mens store in my previous post. The honking big dSLR would have attracted attention from customers, and staff. Even when the staff did see me, they didn't seem to mind I was snapping away. I don't think that would have been the case with my dSLR but who knows. This weekend I'll be down the shore as this is the peak week to catch the Monarch Butterfly migration. Over 1/2 million Monarchs will be in Cape May as they make their way to Mexico. My sister is joining me so instead of her shooting with her old Canon for which she doesn't have a macro lens, I'm loaning her both my D700 and D300 with Macros. I'm gonna stick with the Panasonic and see what happens; I'm not big on patience for capturing small creatures such as butterflies, and bugs, so I think I'l be fine with the LX5. Plus, I'm also trying to convert her from Canon to Nikon. We'll see how that goes and maybe I'll have a butterfly or two to post next week-- that will be a first for me! |
