i gasped out loud when i saw this one while i was at the park.

i think the sun rays looks INCREDIBLE! ...like a diamond or something!!! :)
|
...i think i read somewhere that it's not good to shoot into the light because it could effect your lens...if i'm wrong, somebody let me know so i can keep doing it! :)

I believe that is true about shining directly at the sunlight, not sure if it damages the lens or your camera... Also check out http://sites.google.com/site/biowbiow002/twopeas_12week it can help you learn how to use your camera in manual modes.

if you bought the rebel with a kit it should have come with a lense (uv filter) to put on to protect it from sun damage; if not yes, you need to pick one up. beautiful shots!!!!!!!!!!

The uv filter is great! I've got pics to share where one sacrificed its self to save a $1000 lens... It will help but won't totally protect the sensor from negligent sun damage (think Ant Bully) if you shoot straight at the sun. Lens flare is ok.... Just no straight into the sun in a field on a sunny day!
