Thanks for the great comments. This jellyfish was dead no stinging tentacles, only the central jelly part. Common folklore on jellyfish is ... if the body is clear than it OK to touch, if the body has color in it than poisons are around. The skate (I believe its actually a cow nosed ray) was caught by a fisherman. Most people do not fish for skates they are caught accidentally. These skates are incredibly strong and this one was just released waiting for the next wave to carry it out.

They are wonderful, but I prefer to see them underwater... Poor stingray, did it survive??? The jelly fish obviously did not...

LOL ... no sea creatures were injured duriing these photos ... the jellyfish was dead for a while ... washed up on shore. After the photo, two people assisted the skate back into the water and it swam away. I put the little blue crab back into the water so it could grow up and become crab stuffing someday

I remember in my childhood picking up a jelly fish and showing it to my Mum and Dad asking what it was, they immediately told me to drop it as it stings but I wasn't stung so it must have been a clear bodied one as you previously explained.
