La Ernestina Valdes Peninsula

2007.11.27
Adult sea lions are always on the lookout for the black dorsal fins

This is an intentional stranding lesson, where two adults are teaching the juvenile to patrol the coast and getting used to being close to the beach

The magnificent hidrodynamics of the orca allow it to almost stick its head out, withoug cutting the surface of the water

The armadillo is walking towards me with a purpose. It wants to inspect my bag for food. This is why it is important not to feed them, because they tend to rely on this supply instead of getting their own food

The fox also wants free food...

Sunsets in Patagonia are wonderful. The strong winds make incredible cloud formations.

Mel's fin is very peculiar because in the 70's a provincial government ordered the orcas to be shot at, because they were predating on the sea lions, which were a tourist attraction. UNBELIEVABLE!!!

The children are looking at the sea lions or the sea lions are looking at the children??

This juvenile eagle found a European hare which was ran over by a car, could not fly away with it but would not abandon it in spite of me getting closer and closer

Juvenile Magellan Penguin, with its sea feathers!

Mother and pup strolling along the beach

A cormoran resting after a storm

The colony in low tide. During low tide, the risk of orcas is minor, because they cannot get so close to the shore
