A Praying Mantis

A praying mantis (also called a kneeler) seen from above and "below". It may not be the cutest being around, but you have to admit it is fascinating.
Olympus e-300 with 35mm macro.

aggiechristine Wow, both of these are great! I've never seen anything but a green praying mantis. I guess this guy blends in by looking like a plant stem. (When you view the first photo in large screen you can see that he was keeping an eye on you!)

jorgen Oh, I can get *very* close to it as the lens does 1:1 (i.e. the same as 2:1 on 35mm film). I'll post some real close stuff some time.
