In continuation of the previous photo, this is what the Moon actually does look like - or rather did look like in June last year. The Moon is best seen when it is not full, because one can really only see detailed structure along the left edge. Click on photo to enlarge.
Olympus e-300 with Tamron 500mm f8 mirror lens (1000mm focal length in 35mm film language), considerably digitally zoomed. Exposure 1/160s f8 exposure compensation -2/3.
A photo through a telescope would be many times better, but beggars can't be choosers. :(

That is quite a zoom you have there. It is beautiful, and so nice to think that although we are all over the world, we see the same moon.
I can only echo what everyone else says above. Also, it is amazing that even though you've "considerably digitally zoomed" it, the details of the moon are so crisp.
