Grasshopper

2006.12.06

1. In full, enjoying the sun.
2. It is Sunday, so no need to shave.
Note the sockets for the tenacles, for the middle legs and for hind legs.
3. Note the flexible neck and to the right, the layered skin.
4. Top view.
5. Eyes.
6: Rubbing its eyes, so it is not concerned about me though I have been very close.
Note the soft skin of the neck, normally hidden behind the protective layer.
Note also the elbow-link.
7. Another side view.

Olympus e-500 with 35mm macro. No flash. ISO 100. Exp.comp. -0.3.

aggiechristine What a wonderful series of shots and, as always, awesome sense of humor! You must have been very still to prevent it from jumping.

jorgen No, I took it from many angles and with the camera lens 6-9 cm from it. The trick is to move in a non-threatening manner. It was still sitting there when I left.

Richard Incredibly sharp, nice realistic colour, and thanks for the mini biology lesson, I wouldn't have noticed the soft bit of skin if you hadn't pointed it out. (didn't even realise these things have skin).
