No, I took it from many angles and with the camera lens 6-9 cm from it. The trick is to move in a non-threatening manner. It was still sitting there when I left.

Incredibly sharp, nice realistic colour, and thanks for the mini biology lesson, I wouldn't have noticed the soft bit of skin if you hadn't pointed it out. (didn't even realise these things have skin).
