'Sundogs' Sunday Morning Post

2008.02.10
Just a few miles from West Fargo. Sundog on the prairie.

Rural Road between West Fargo and Mapleton.

Looking towards Mapleton, North Dakota.

Rural gravel road.

My neighborhood to the right, behind me nothing but farmland.

Wind, snow and icy roads cause I-94 to close for 5 hours from Fargo, ND to Fergus Falls, MN this morning. With a blizzard warning for the area, no travel was advised.
I waited until late afternoon to venture out to take a few pictures. My reward was the pictures in this Sunday post of 'Sundogs'. (parhelion - a bright, sunlike optical illusion caused by sunlight passing through ice crystals in the upper atmosphere; sundog.)
I wish I would have had my wide angle zoom lens with since there was a spot on both sides of the sun. After that I stopped by Sheyenne Crossings to check on my pictures that have been on display there for 10 months now. Might have to start charging them rent!!
Please click the link below to view display, Thanks.

losalamos666 Amazing. We never get anything like this here in Australia. Must come and visit one day and see it for myself.

focussed Some of these look like beach scenes...the ocean and sand on a fogy and windy winters day...WOW

Sorry I have not commented or posted much lately. I chose to complete a course for employment enhancement plus I also work full-time during the day. I have returned ( course is done ) and I look forward to sharing more images and visiting!

Madoc Very beautiful and intriguing phenomenon nicely captured here.
You created wonderful shots with it along with the snowy road.
Truly superb, my friend, especially #1, 3 & 6.
