thinking of Iowa

2008.06.12
I'm a mother of two Boy Scouts and my Dad was from a small town in western Iowa.

We drove through Iowa last summer on our way to Yellowstone.

We spent the night in my Dad's hometown.

It was great for my boys to see the country this way; experiences like these broaden their horizons and help them to relate to other people and different situations.

Last week my younger son was holed up in the basement bathroom with 2 dogs and a cat because we had tornado warnings (not a watch - a warning). There was a lot of storm damage. We pray for those Boy Scouts hit by a tornado at their camp in western Iowa last night and for all those suffering in the Midwest from storms and flooding.
