when it rains, IT POURS! (part 2)

We had a mini flood back in June which produced this blog entry. THIS TIME we had a bigger flood!! Whoever built this city didn't think to put it more than like, 10 drains (smart). Now whenever it rains the water stays in the roads and floods the city.

We've had about 11 inches of rain since Thursday which has caused all of our lakes to go above the spillway and several people to suffer damage to their homes and businesses. It didn't rain last night or this morning. In fact, today was a beautiful day! HOWEVER, a nearby creek that runs through town is above its spillway. All of the water has been moving through town and when we came home from church around 11:15, it was waiting for us in front of our house! Thank God that it didn't come up past the curb, but it was scary to think that the water was so close to coming into our house. The water has gone down quite a bit on some streets since then, but is still flowing in several parts of town. What is really gross is the water has snakes, fire ants, sewage, pesticides, agricultural chemicals, oil, and gasoline. Isn't that great?

Chance & I took a walk around the neighborhood and nearby business area to see the water and damage. We got about 350 pictures!
