Belated Theme Post: Currency

2008.02.08
I give, they spend, I give back--we're into recycling :D

My classroom currency: tickets.

One reward my grade level offers to students is tickets for good behavior, good grades, returning work, etc. Tickets mean THE WORLD to these kids. I have a classroom store where the students can buy pencils, markers, crayons, erasers, folders, notebooks, pens, bathroom passes, and drink passes. I have "Treasure Box Friday" where the students can buy little toys, posters, and other neat things that aren't school supplies. My homeroom kids have some kind of system of putting their tickets in one person's bag. I haven't quite figured it out yet! It doesn't really make sense because the kid who they give their tickets to always ends up spending them without telling anyone else. It happens over and over again!

They're so funny.

PaperWings Like Julie said, we do this at our school, too! I was going to post it, also. But ours are gray, so I didnt think the color would look as good. Your blue and red tickets have great color!

777STAN Great Post! Great insights into human nature! :)

BTY---Here's a thought question for a teacher. Does it become currency only on the day that your spend it, or is it still currency if you spent it yesterday or plan to spend in tomorrow, just not today? :}
777STAN · 2008-02-10: 08:28
bauche I think the one kid that gets all the tickets has out smarted the rest. You better keep an eye on that one!!

Symbioticromance That's such a neat idea. We had something kind of like that when I was in second grade, and I loved that teacher because he made everything so much fun. I bet these kids will remember you when they're older just like I remember him =]

LeahMarie25 That's a great idea! I wonder what their system is. That doesn't seem to make much sense to me, either.
