I spent the past few days at a timber skills workshop at Khancoban for people involved in conserving timber huts and cabins in Australia's high country. Its main focus was on the correct uses of traditional wood-working tools and selection of the best timbers for particular purposes. It was a rare occasion to learn from the few remaining expert craftsmen skilled in these matters.
It was presented by the Australian Alps National Parks and was an absolutely sensational experience!
