My Felting

2009.04.05
Wet felted background with embroidered detail. I've sold some of these pictures. The hanging braid is Kumihimo, a japanese braid with 8 strands of yarn I spun on my spinning wheel.

Wet felt hats with added crochet decoration. A wet felted flower and beads made into a necklace (of which I've sold quite a few).

This is a knit purse that is then washed in the washing machine to felt. My creation to the purse pattern is adding an additional yarn that doesn't shrink and adds a thickness that makes the purse round out. I've sold a lot of purses, but none this coloring - this one's mine! and my favorite.

Ah ... nostalgia! I grew up in the Tucson AZ desert.

"Transformation". The left eye is actually a mirror. Originally I was going to make a mask with mirror eyes and title it "Who do you see?" but ended up creating this. Both are the idea of being made in the image of the Creator God.

I initially was doing just wet wool felting: slippers, hats, beads, and pictures. When I learned how to needlefelt I was able to create more 3-dimensional work. I'd incorporate this addition to flat pictures and then more detailed faces.
