road trip adventures part 2 - whales

2008.07.25
The beautiful waters of the Ningaloo Reef. Snorkelling we saw Manta Rays, Dugongs, Reef Sharks, Turtles and loads of other un-nameable fish!

The friendly humpbacks paid our boat a visit.

These whales swam and played around a boat for over an hour!

In Exmouth, about 1300kms north of Perth, for a few months each year you can go snorkelling with the Whale Sharks, the biggest species of fish in the world, on the Ningaloo Reef. The one we swam with was about 4mts long, but they can grow up to 18mts. I didn't get any pictures underwater (I have a great DVD of it though), but here's a link to a picture if you've never seen them before. null This was something I've wanted to do for years and it was the most incredible experience!

These shots are some of the humpback whales that swam within meters of our boat, just to top off an amazing day!
