The BBC. Beeb. Auntie. Auntie Beeb
If there was a mouthpeace of the UK to the world, the BBC is it. With idiot amounts of programming it knocks out (in terms of News, Sport, Entertainment, learning, Reality, Internet and Radio), its one of the voice pieces of the nation. By its charter, the BBC is independent of the government of the day, its opposition and other political interferance. The other thing is that it is required to be free of commercial influence (so there are no vendor pushing or product placement)
As opposed to the USA System, where there are local franchise of the TV companies, the BBC operates as one organisation through the UK (with many different bits of it), with regional offices.
For the West Midlands region, this its base is The Mailbox - a multiuse building full of offices, shops, residential accommodation and the BBC in the West Midlands itself. To make it more appealing to the general public, a public space was built, where you can watch people broadcast.
