Thats the other problem with the tripod ... excess bulk. A minipod might have to be researched...

Both are interesting compositions. The color in the first shot is fantastic and I love the way the light is reflected on the water. I like the soft looking water and that there are no blue lighted trees in the second, as they distract from the main focal point (but they do add a lovely reflection!). I've seen tiny little tripods that can fit in your camera bag. I think that is the way to go for portability and inconspicuousness (sp?).

That's what I thought of. Unfortunately, a lot of them are designed for little cameras... not the Digital SLR I carry in my bag daily. Best go round the local photographic shops to annoy the hell out of the staff ;) I liked the softness of the water... it comes from the very long exposures. As it gets lighter, I'll experiment more....

One thing I will do is try this shot again after all the christmas lights are switched off and normality (or the lack of it returns) to the city. It's getting me in practice for Chicago again!
