After reading an article on photoblog a few days ago... I decided to spend a few minutes this evening taking a few practice shots with water and time delayed images.

1st image was shot at ISO 200/f6.3 for 5 seconds - I found a lot of light thankfully.

2nd image was shot a lot darker shot at ISO 200/f22 for 15 seconds

Intresting results.. I think i might experiment tomorrow .. as long it doesn't rain...

My major problem is that i refuse to carry round a tripod with me... so its finding something stable to put the camera on. A mini tripod might have to be brought.....

Both are interesting compositions. The color in the first shot is fantastic and I love the way the light is reflected on the water. I like the soft looking water and that there are no blue lighted trees in the second, as they distract from the main focal point (but they do add a lovely reflection!). I've seen tiny little tripods that can fit in your camera bag. I think that is the way to go for portability and inconspicuousness (sp?). aggiechristine · 2007-01-04: 21:35

That's what I thought of. Unfortunately, a lot of them are designed for little cameras... not the Digital SLR I carry in my bag daily. Best go round the local photographic shops to annoy the hell out of the staff ;) I liked the softness of the water... it comes from the very long exposures. One thing I will do is try this shot again after all the christmas lights are switched off and normality (or the lack of it returns) to the city. It's getting me in practice for Chicago again! kevincm · 2007-01-05: 09:29
