On the main Hong Kong Island, a leftover the past works well today - The Hong Kong tram system.
And at HK$2 a ride (20p/US50cents or so).... dirt cheap.
This is a journey from Central and through Wan Chai.. and back.

All of the trams come from the UK and are VERY old, I remember when I was at sea with Ben Line in 1974 carring trams out as deck cargo to HK for resteration prior to them being given a new prodictive life (again!)
