Crossing the Moon.
2009.12.13
This always happens when I'm not ready. A million thoughts go through my mind: Coming back from Cedar Falls and another 2 mile hike, I was dragging my feet walking to the car because I felt like I did a 2000 foot climb. I looked up, and saw a great view of a plane and the moon. I only have a 135mm lens on my camera….too short!!! Let's try anyway. Click. Look at preview….it's not too bad. I could pull something from it. Look up again….OMG!!! It's going to cross the Moon! Focus, focus. What about the settings? ISO?! Shutter speed???!! OMG! Aperture???!! Forget it….too late….focus….damn focus. It's moving too fast! STOP…hold on!!! Oh good, beep, confirmation of focus. Should I get it right before the Moon? What if it will not focus again, no, lets wait until it gets to the Moon. OMG!!! Hold on, hold, steady, GOOOO!!! It's crossing! Hold my breath, stop shaking hands! Click, gggrrrshshshs, stop shaking!!! SR works, beep, click shshgrrrggksh, beep, click. Look at LCD….lucky shots! Back to dragging my feet to the car….

Fantastic shots! You did a great job with what you had in the spur of the moment. Your commentary sounds exactly like me, except I usually don't think about my settings until after I've snapped the shot, when it's too late!
