In Wisconsin there are about three colors that are predominant in wild flowers--purple, white and yellow. I was told the reason is that our soil is made up of a lot of clay and sand. I live in middle of the state where it is very flat. In prehistoric days the glaciers moved in and flattened us out creating ridges and hills around us.

We have an abundance of wildlife. I have seen Bald Eagles within walking distance, Osprey hawks (this one nests at the dam), deer, fox, wolves, turkey, quail and bear. There is also an abundance of walleyes in our streams and rivers.

This is a lovely weed which was growing by the train tracks which carry the logs to the Paper Mill. They grow without petals.

The corn season is over. All the stalks are dried out. I had to hold my nose when I took this picture because it smelled so bad! The perils of photography!!:)
