Ice Fishin'

2008.03.09
One cold and snowy day I was bored, bored, bored....

Then I remembered a beautiful spot on the lake where I could take pictures. Did I say it was COLD! Good thing I had boots on...the snow was sometimes all the way up to my knees...

Wisconsinites do crazy things here like build little shacks on the thick ice and spear for fish. I am too much of a chicken to walk on the lake.

Look at this brave soul!

It amazes me that everything doesn't just sink into the water. I mean...how do they KNOW the ice is thick enough? Scary!

But probably a perfect day for catching Walleye. If you have never had Walleye you are definitely missing something.

The macro lover in me just had to take a shot of something! I can't wait for our world to bloom here...you know how addicted to flowers I am!

Thank goodness for evergreen trees and the red oak...at least some color.

A fallen comrade...

I felt watched over.

The last red oak leaves hang on. They drop their foliage in the spring.

CJLata Wonderful photo story. Btw, there are people who go out to the lake, cut a hole in the lake, pull out the ice and then measure it. This is the mystery of how people have nerve to do what they do. Last spring my class went up North and walked across a lake to get to our retreat center, it took about a half hour to forty-five minutes to get across. On the return, I went ahead, got to the center where there wasn't a soul around, did a 360 and heard absolutely nothing. It was the quietest quiet I have ever experienced. You are really missing out on an awesome experience.
