I wonder...

2008.03.15

...am I bold and open to new possibilites..

...or disconnected from what I want most...

...or somewhere in between the truth and what I secret away...

...or finally unabashed and unashamed...

...reveling in how I was made?

I am forty two years old this April and I am still wondering who I am. My life has been led around others and with each passing day I have built a protective layer around my central core. I have been asking myself lately "Who am I really?" and I am compelled to look back at myself as a young child for the answers. I am willing now to pull of my layers of adulthood and see my core personality. I remember being inquisitive and sensitive, sympathetic and imaginative. And I realize that over the years my inquisitiveness dulled a bit--my sensitivity turned to hurt, sympathy slid into co-dependence and my imagination into worry. I am trying to get back to the real me--back to when things tasted better, the sky looked brighter and my heart would open wider--without fear or hesitation.

These shots are absolutely exquisite!
Don't worry too much about your inner core, or get too self-obsessed about it...... I think that's a pretty common stage for women in their (our) forties....who have spent most of their adult lives taking care of other people and their needs. I found that as my children grew older and more independent, it came pretty naturally to go back to my own interests and loves. I hope that happens for you too!
