Barbuda? WHY????

left is the map of barbuda, and the little resaturant on the beach... right is a picture of the volcano in montserrat...where i was yesterday....

so i decided to head over to the tiny island of Barbuda... why i don't know... i was shocked at how much the fare was... but i went anyway.... see the complete report on Older Travelloers in the LP..

I had a large simple room at Miss Ilenes house, and this was the little front porch. there was nothing to see here, and nothing to do, and nowhere to go. the island is a totally flat pancake, and its main export is sand.... there are no real stores or centre to the town.... i found one restaurant...

BUT there was the most magnificicent white sand beaches...miles and miles and miles of empty beaches.... all full of nasty llittle no see um sand fleas.... which i discovered to my horror the next day... i had over sixty bites....

Sometimes you have to take a chance on the unknown, in case it turns out to be awesome. Sometimes you scratch your head and wonder what you were thinking! Hope tomorrow is a better day! :)

That sucks, but still it's a good thing you went. You took a chance, that's good. Me and the boy had the same last year when we went to Santiago de Cuba. After 14 hours in the bus and booking 2 nights at a hotel we discovered after 2 hrs that Santiago de Cuba was utterly boring and that the people were horrible.

That's the great thing about independent travel, I guess - you get to make these decisions and no matter if the experience is good or bad, it's memorable
