I played with a POLAROID SX-70 LAND CAMERA!
2008.12.01
This is how the camera looks like, folded up, ready for transportation. The body looks like stainless steel.... but actually it is not. It is plastic, plated with chrome

A crazy cool camera...! In full ready to operate mode! The button on the left (viewing head on) is the shutter release button. On top of that button is the focusing dial. The round thing in the middle is the lens. The next thing, round thingy, I have no idea what that is (didn't get around to ask Flanegan about it) and the dial on top of that is supposed to be for some effects filter of something like that.

The top is the viewfinder! Quite difficult to see because the field of view inside the viewfinder is actually very narrow. If I was not in line just by a little bit, I cannot see the image! Oh, and this particular model uses the split image focusing screen.

I got the chance to handle an ultra rare (well, at least to me) POLAROID SX-70 LAND CAMERA today! A simple search on the internet will tell you that this is an at least 30 years old camera. It is a folding single lens reflex instant camera! This is such a unique and intriguing camera. Thanks to Flanegan who brought it back all the way from Australia (he is the owner) and show to us who it works. It even comes with a split prism focusing screen not unlike slr cameras of a later era (before to surge of Auto Focusing). I was so ecstatic when holding this piece of photography history in the palms of my hand (not to mention the fear of breaking it!)
